Important News for Parkinson's Computer Users!!!!
A New Device from IBM to filter out Involuntary Movements

The "Assistive Mouse Adapter"
was invented by IBM.

It filters out the unintentional movements of the hand caused by a tremor.

The effect of the adapter is much smoother movement of the cursor on the screen and greatly improved accuracy of mouse operation.

You can find information about it at
http://www.montrosesecam.com/

We have placed an order for one, and will post our personal findings upon it's arrival.

Bill's Table

MEASUREMENTS

The table frame is made with 1 inch tubular steel.

Sides: (height not counting wheels) are 25" wide (outside), inside is 19".

Back: 25", high - 26" (outside), inside - 24"

Top: 32" wide, 26" deep

Top lift plate (12" X 18") with piano hinge

Top front cut out (22" X 13")

NOTE:

Upon using the table, I found that the table arms were too short, so rather than having the top done over, I got two boards (18" X 6" X 1"), which are held in place by a clamp on each side, so I can move then as needed.

The wheels enable me to move the table from room to room if desired.

As well as extra flexibility, if a person were unable to open the clamps, perhaps a slotted arrangement could be added. The more you refine this plan the higher the cost.

COMMENTS & SUGGESTIONS

1) I do not use the lift top section because I found it too short to read my paper. Instead, I use a bean bag, which I can either use there or put on the floor, if I want to write or read.

* The bean bag is a piece of plywood ( 16" X 20" ) with a sack filled with beans or pea pebbles, and fastened on the back.

2) Notice, that I stick my feet out under the table and rest them on a chair. I do this because it helps with the blood circulation and I believe that the long leg muscles have a tendency to shorten either with PD, or advanced age (or both).

So, I try to keep my legs stretched out as much as possible - even when sleeping.

3) As I am often forgetting something, I have taken a coat hanger and stretched it our and put tape around it, and use it as a hook to either bring my chair closer, or reach for something I want.

I HOPE THIS BRINGS SOMEONE ELSE THE COMFORT AND PLEASURE THAT IT HAS ME.
