people with Parkinson's
Much of it may also apply to other folks)
Clearing
the Nasal Passages
The
ears, eyes & nose are connected by what is called an Eustachian
Tube. I found that it was better for me to clear one nostril
at a time. If I have a cold, the phlegm is not spread through
the entire tube, with plugged up eyes and ears. Preventing
a potential 'balance problem", as well as localizing
the infective area.
WEIGHT
LOSS!
There
are a number of reasons that might cause weight lossfor P.D.
folks.
The most common ones being, loss of taste, appetite, energy,
and smell. Ones overlooked, might well be night sweats,
and an increase in metabolism due to constant tremors. A lot
of energy is wasted with tremors. It is shake, rattle and roll
for hours at a time.
Constipation,
Comtan & Sinemet Cr
I have
found out that for me, is a 'double edged sword'!
P.D. can
cause constipation! Sinemet Cr can cause constipation!
Comtan
can cause Diarrhea! So, it is often a case of trial and error.
In my case it was mostly error. I couldn't take enough comtan
to create a loose stool.
My 'neuro'
suggested that I take a 200 mg of comtan with each 200/50
working up slowly until I got to 4. I found out that by the
time I got to 3, I was so "spaced out", I wasn't
sure what I was doing. So, I cut back to one
Comtan
at 8 Am, and !/2 at 8 PM. This system seems to suit me better.
Comtan,
Dyskinesia, &Sinemet Cr!
Dyskinesia
is the uncontrollable " jumps or jerks" of various
muscle groups that some people ( 25 to 30 percent ) get as
a result of this disease and two drugs that are used to control
it, Comtan & Sinemet Cr!
I have
read that these "jerks " can also be caused by irregular
timing of taking one's medication. My 'neuro' suggested that
I take my meds every 3 hours, in order to avoid 'on &
off ' periods, which also play a role in creating Dyskinesia.
Researchers have been working for quite some time on a "
Skin Patch ", which would release medication at constant
level through out the day. One of the problems has been how
much medication to put in each "patch ". because
each persons required amount of drugs is different.
I want
to stress that this has been my experience only, and is not
to be considered medical advice. I wish I had obtained an
information 'print out' from the druggist about the possible
side affects prior to starting the drug.
Sleeping
!
Having
silk or satin PJ'S makes it easier to change positions when
sleeping. However, there can be problems with them. If not
careful, you could slide out of bed onto the floor. It is
a good idea to rotate the mattress because if you sleep on
the same side too long, it will become depressed or packed
down lower than the rest of the mattress.
************
It is
also possible to buy a silk or satin top sheet, fold it in
half, and lay it across the bed in the middle, and tuck each
end down under the mattress in order to hold it in place,
and then continue to make the bed .

A bed
guard as pictured below part of which is fastened under the
mattress, which will provide some security and easier mobility.
Digestion
A glass
of hat water, when sipped slowly first thing in the morning, calms
& relaxes the entire digestive tract, as well as giving
the body a good flush.
